Srinagar, July 23: Applicants Thursday alleged that it has become very difficult to get a new passport or seek renewal of an old one at Srinagar Passport Office. They said people at regional pass port office are subject to mindless hurdles.
A group of people told news agency KNT that a couple of persons who manage affairs at the Passport office virtually harass visitors and in the name of verification and clearance, they create unnecessary delay.
“It takes months to get an old passport renewed and sometimes more. To get a new passport is almost impossible,” said a respectable citizen.
Another citizen said that he has completed all the formalities and still delay is caused. “This is sheer harassment and nothing else. I don’t know the motive behind this delay,” he said.
Srinagar passport office recently resumed its operations as it was virtually closed due to current Covid-19 pandemic.
Efforts to reach Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Srinagar, B B Nagar didn’t materialize as his phone was switched off. (KNT)
