Murder of youth: Family demands arrest of remaining 5 accused, stages candle light protest

Anantnag, July 26: The womenfolk of family of deceased Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh of Gohan Vailoo who was murdered in the second week of this month came out to their courtyard lightened candles and demanded arrest of more five persons mentioned in FIR.

Pertinently, a youth Ishfaq Ahmed Sheikh was killed during a scuffle over some land dispute in Vailoo area of Kokarnag in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on 9 July this month.

The protesting family members told news agency KNT that over 14 people barged into their private school building and ransacked it. They hit Ishfaq as well who succumbed to his injuries.

“Police have already arrested 9 persons but 5 are still free and we demand they should be arrested as well,” they said.

The family members said that those who are free were also part of the mob that killed Ishfaq Ahmad, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh of Gohan Vailoo.

“All the 14 accused should be arrested. These goons killed a young man and they should get what they deserve,” the protesting family members said.

A police official told KNT that 9 accused have already been arrested and if the role of more people be established in the murder incident, they will also be arrested.

“Whosoever is responsible for the killing of young man will face music under law,” the official said. (KNT)
