Pulwama, Aug 25: A policeman and his associate were arrested for their involvement in highway robbery incident in South Kashmir’s Awantipora town.
Police sources told KNT that Awantipora police Tuesday solved a highway robbery case and arrested duo including a policeman.
Divulging information about the case, sources said that a track driver identified as Reyaz Ahmad Sheikh of Hari Ganwan Kangan lodged a complaint at Police Station Awantipora claiming that some goons stopped his truck (JK05A-6896) on Lethpora Highway and looted 2 cell phones and Rs 10,000 from him.
“Accordingly police registered an FIR vide number 111/2020 under relevant sections while during the course of investigation strenuous efforts were taken by the SHO Awantipora Mudasir Naseer, by means of analyzing CCTV footage of Highway as well as identification of Scooty used by the accused. Two accused identified as policeman Mudasir Ahmad Bhat of Malikangan Fathekadal Srinagar and Uzair Yousuf Dar of Babapora Sheeltang Habakadal Srinagar were nabbed and looted cash of Rs 10,000 was recovered from them.”
Sources added that the nabbed policeman is posted at District Police Lines Srinagar. (KNT)
