Srinagar, Oct 30: The killing of three BJP workers in Qazigund belt of Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Thursday has taken the number of total BJP workers/leaders killed by militants in four months to nine.

Yesterday evening, three BJP workers namely Fida Hussain, who was a BJP’s Yuva Morcha General Secretary, BJP worker Umar Ramzan, both residents of Y K Pora, Qazigund and Umar Rashid, a resident of Sopat in Devsar area of Kulgam, were killed by Lashkar-e-Toiba and TRF militants, according to police, last evening.

As per locals, the slain trio were lone sons of their families and Fida was also father of one-year old daughter. They said Fida has left behind five sisters, parents, wife and a year old daughter while as Umar from Y K Pora, was a driver by profession and has left behind a sister and parents.

They further said that Umar Rashid from Sopat, Devsar has left behind a sister and parents. Before the slain trio, six more workers of the BJP party were killed while as one was injured in less than four months in Valley.

On September 23, Block Development Council (BDC) chairman Khag affiliated with BJP Party namely Bupinder Singh of Budgam was killed by militants at his ancestral village Dalwach, Budgam.

On August 09, BJP’s OBC District President Abdul Hamid Najar was killed when he was morning walk in Ompora, Budgam. On August 06, BJP Sarpanch namely Sajad Ahmad Khanday was shot dead by militants near his residence at Vessu, Qazigund.

On 04 August, a BJP Sarpanch was shot at and injured during militant attack in Akhran area of Kulgam, however, he survived.

On July 08, three members of a family including BJP State executive Committee member Sheikh Waseem Bari, his father Bashir Ahmad and brother Sheikh Umar who were also office bearers were killed by militants at their residence in Bandipora—(KNO)
