Bandipora, Nov 14: In a shocking incident of criminal negligence and inhumane act, a young lady delivers her baby in the premises of Bandipora district hospital as she was denied  permission in the hospital after she was tested positive for COVID-19, family alleged.

The lady resident of Vewan – a remotest village of Bandipora district was shifted to Bandipora district hospital by her family after she developed labor pain on Saturday morning.

However after requisite tests before delivery, she tested positive for COVID-19, the doctors present in the hospital refused to treat her and instead shifted her to Hajin Covid hospital- nearly 30 KMs from the District Hospital.

The family members alleged that despite asking the doctors with folded hands that she can’t travel a long distance, the doctors despite having protective gears, refused and the lady delivered the baby in the hospital premises amid heavy rains and chilling cold.

Medical Superintendent District Hospital Bandipora denied the allegations of negligence and said that COVID hospital is in Hajin and concerned doctors referred her to Hajin and only in few minutes when she was waiting for ambulance she delivered baby in hospital ground.

Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais said that they will inquire into the incident and action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
