Top sources revealed to Kashmir Despatch that the incarcerated Awami Itihad Party (AIP) president Er. Rashid is likely to be released before the DDC elections.
Sources said that his release can cause severe dent in the constituencies considered to be political bastions of Peoples Conference and the National Conference in North Kashmir.
Rashid was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 9—four days after New Delhi revoked special status of the erstwhile state—in connection with a “terror funding” case in Kashmir.
Earlier his family had made an appeal and demanded that Rasheed should be released form Tihar Jail where he is languishing for the fault of his none.
