‘Nobody gave consent to doctors before treatment, they are spreading lies’

Srinagar, Dec 15 : A day after KNO carried out the alleged negligence of the doctors at a private hospital here, the family of a two-year-old minor girl from Aali Kadal area of Srinagar Tuesday staged a protest against the hospital authorities, demanding stern action against them.

Scores of family members including the father-mother duo of Zikra Farooq assembled at Srinagar’s Press Enclave while carrying banners reading slogans.

Father of Zikra, Farooq Ahmad Bhat while talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reacted to the claims made by the hospital management in a story carried out by KNO yesterday, saying that none among the family especially father or mother of the child have given consent to the doctors before treatment. “Nobody approached us for consent or any related thing. They are spreading lies, nothing else,” he said.

Bhat further stated that the doctors have ruined the life of their beloved due to the negligence. “We are aware that there is possibility of complications, but at least the hospital management should have kept the alternative ready to treat the patient in case of complications. However, they delayed the process, thus simultaneously resulting in brain damage to my child,” he said.

Mother of Zikra, amid tears in her eyes said that her five-year-old daughter who was aspiring to become a doctor is now reluctant to become a doctor after the negligence has left the entire family as well as the relatives in distress.

“We are being told to file a case or asked to seek insurance for the treatment of our child. But, nobody there is feeling ashamed of what they have done to my baby girl,” she said while demanding stern action against the hospital administration.

Pertinently, on Monday, KNO carried a news titled ‘Alleged anesthesia overdose leaves 1-year-old girl brain damage at Sgr’s private hospital’. The family had alleged that an overdose of anesthesia by the medicos at a private hospital in Srinagar has damaged the brain of a 14-month-old baby girl when she was undergoing treatment a year ago.

However, the family of the girl had said the authorities at the hospital don’t even bother to accept the guilt rather challenged them to file a case against them—(KNO)
