2 ‘JeM Associates’ Arrested In Awantipora: Police

Srinagar, Jan 11: Security forces on Monday claimed to have arrested two ‘militant associates’ from Awantipora in south-Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A media handout received by GNS reads that “Awantipora Police along with 42 RR & 130 Bn CRPF arrested two ‘militant associates’ of proscribed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad from Awantipora area.”

The duo as maintained in the handout are “involved in providing shelter, support, logistics, as well as in transporting of arms/ammunition of the militants in Awantipora & Tral area and passing on sensitive information to the militants of proscribed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad.”

Identifying the arrested duo as Shezaan Gulzar Beigh from Gadhikhal Chersoo and Waseem-ul-Rehman Sheikh from Midoora Awantipora, the statement reads that “Incriminating material including explosive material and ammunition has been recovered from both the arrested persons.”

“The arrested militant associates have been in touch with the PaK militant commanders through various Social Media platforms”, the statement reads even as maintaining that “One of the arrested militant associate has also gone to PaK and had met some militant commanders there.”

“Lot of false narrative have been uploaded on Facebook Page being operated by one of the arrested militant associates’ to influence and misguide the gullible youth towards the path of violence”, the statement reads.

“A case under FIR number 07/2021 stands registered against the arrested associates at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of law and further investigations taken up”, the statement reads further. (GNS)
