Jammu, Feb 03: Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) is likely to start annual/regular examinations for class 10th and 12th in Summer Zone of Jammu Division from April 1.

Official sources told Daily Excelsior that as the Government has allowed opening of the schools in Jammu Division for students, JKBOSE has also decided to hold the annual examinations for class 10th and 12th in Summer Zone of Jammu Division from April 1, while following all social distancing norms and other SOPs in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

“In a day or two, the datesheet of the examinations will also be framed and announced accordingly,” they said, adding, the JKBOSE is also going to start class 11th annual examinations for Summer Zone of Jammu Division from April 24.

Sources revealed that keeping in view the prevailing pandemic and the need of maintaining social distancing norms as per Government SOPs on COVID-19, this time JKBOSE is going to constitute more examination centres for which the need of more premises will arise.

“Thus, to meet out the requirement of adequate number of examination centres, the Board may use even recognized Government or private Middle/High/Higher Secondary Schools, degree colleges and even Government community halls if required, to ensure proper social distancing among students appearing in the exams,” they added.

Sources further informed that unlike four or five examination centres that used to be constituted earlier in a single institution, this time not more than two examination centres will be allowed to be constituted in a single institution to avoid overcrowding at the entry/exit points of the institutions housing the examination centres.

They added that each examination centre will not have more than 100 examinees and only one supervisor per 20 candidates/per room depending upon the seating arrangement of the candidates will be allowed in each centre, as a one time exception for the current exams.

“All the examination centres will have mandatory availability of face masks, sanitizers, etc and to purchase the same, the Superintendents of each centre will be paid Rs 300 by the Board, in addition to the fixed remuneration,” sources said, adding, this arrangement has been mooted keeping in view Government guidelines on COVID-19.

Sources said to ensure that all related SOPs are adhered to at the respective examination centres by the examinees and examiners, the inspection teams will be constituted by the Board which will visit the examination centres.

Regarding external practical examinations of all the three examinations viz class 10th, 11th and 12th, sources said that respective affiliated academic institutions will conduct the practical exams on their own, well before the commencement of theory exams.
