‘Absconding’ Kulgam Resident Arrested in Udhumpur

Srinagar, Mar 7: A Kulgam resident allegedly evading arrest since 2018 has been arrested by police from Udhumpur district on Sunday, officials told GNS.

Identifying the ‘absconder’ as one Dr. Abdul Bari Naik alias Shabir Naik a resident of Chidder Kulgam, the official said that the now arrested person was involved in several FIRs pertaining to ‘Unlawful Activities’ for the year 2018.

Divulging further details the official said that the accused has against himself FIR numbers 49/2018 under sections 153, 500, 506 RPC; 191/2018 U/S 153, 353 RPC, 13 UAP Act; 10/2019 U/S 153, 505, 506 RPC, 13 UAP Act, registered at Police Station Kulgam.

“The accused was at large for over years now, however after receiving a reliable input about his presence at Udhumpur, a team was constituted by Kulgam police subsequently leading to his arrest”, the official said adding that “All the necessary investigations have been set in motion to bring the accused to justice.”

Meanwhile GNS has learnt from reliable sources that the accused (Dr. Abdul Bari Naik) recently transferred from Kulgam, was currently dispensing his duties as Assistant Professor at Government Degree College Udhampur. (GNS)
