Ensure all NDMA safety guidelines in schools: Govt to CEOs

Srinagar, Mar 20: The School Education Department on Saturday directed all Chief Educational Officers (CEOs) of Kashmir to ensure implementation of National Disaster Management Guidelines in all schools for their safety.

In this regard, various directions and guidelines were issued by the School Education Department under National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) under school safety policy-2016, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

SED directions, Guidelines

1: District Nodal Officers (Dy. CEO’s) should monitor the implementation of ten points of school safety.

2: Sensitization programmes, periodic mock drills at regular intervals are essential for all the schools.

3: Safety audit is a very important technical feature which should be conducted in every school in consultation with the District Disaster Management Authority.

4: Quarterly reports should be forwarded in time to the School Education Department for onward submission to the concerned quarters.

5: Best practices adopted anywhere in the district may be shared with School Education Department

6: District Nodal Officers should focus on the implementation of directions of Prime Minister during 6th meeting of NDMA—(KNO)
