As rains drench Kashmir, Govt says no flood threat in Kashmir

Water level in Jhelum, other tributaries below alarm level, say officials

Srinagar, Apr 17: The J&K administration on Saturday ruled out the possibility of floods in the Valley saying that the water level in river Jhelum and other tributaries is below alarm level.

“There is no possibility of floods at present as the water level in the water bodies especially in river Jhelum has not increased much,” Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) department, Iftikhar Ahmad Kakroo told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO)

As per the officials, the water in the river Jhelum and other tributaries was flowing below the alarm mark.

At 12:03 PM in Ram Munshi Bagh, the water level was recorded at 7.28 ft while in Sangam and Asham, it was recorded 5.37 feet and 4.92 feet respectively.
