Use electricity judiciously to avoid pesky power cuts during Iftari, Sehri times: KPDCL to consumers

Srinagar, Apr 20: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) on Tuesday appealed the consumers to use electricity judiciously to avoid unscheduled power cuts during Iftari and Sehri times.

Chief Engineer KPDCL, Aijaz Ahmad Dar told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that keeping in view the weather advisory for next two days, temperature is again expected to drop and load in the system will again increase.

“As such, all the consumers are humbly requested to use electricity judiciously and to avoid use of heating gadgets at Sehri and Iftaar times so as to avoid unscheduled power cuts,” he said.

The KPDCL Chief Engineer also stated that this Ramadan, the department is providing 1630 MWs electricity as compared to last year’s load of 1475 MW.

Pertinently, the appeal comes a day after the government ordered attachment of AEE, Bemina and AE Zakoora in the office of Managing Director, KPDCL with immediate effect while taking serious note of laxity in electric supply during Iftar and Sehri times in Srinagar district.

The government has received a number of public grievances about disruptions in power supply during Iftar and Sehri times had been received from these areas.

The Managing Director, KPDCL and Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir have also been directed to personally monitor the supply of electricity and ensure no disruptions—(KNO)
