Erratic Weather Expected In Jammu, Kashmir Divisions Till May 7: MeT

Srinagar, May 4: Weatherman on Tuesday forecast erratic weather accompanied by occasional rain, thunderstorm and lightning till May 7 in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Erratic weather with possibility of occasional rain, thunderstorm and lightning is most likely till May 7 in both Jammu and Kashmir,” a MeT official said.

He said moderate rain with thunderstorm, lightning and hailstorm was most likely at Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag, Srinagar, Budgam, Gulmarg, Ramban-Banihal, and most districts of Jammu during next few hours and dissipate thereafter gradually.

Meanwhile, the official told GNS that Srinagar recorded a low of 13.4°C against 11.6°C on the previous night. The temperature was 3.7°C above normal for this time of the season in the summer capital of J&K, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 11.2°C against previous night’s 8.6°C and it was above normal by 2.7°C in the gateway town of Kashmir, the official said.

Mercury settled at 7.0°C against 5.9°C on the previous night in Pahalgam.

The temperature was 2.1°C above normal for the time of the season in the famous tourist resort in South Kashmir, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 9.3°C against normal of 8.4°C, the official said.
Kupwara recorded a low of 10.1°C against 9.0°C on the previous night and the temperature was above normal by 1.7°C for this time of the season in north Kashmir district, the official said.

Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.2°C against 6.0°C on the previous night, the official said. It was 2.9°C above normal in the resort, the official added. (GNS)
