Anantnag, May 08: Amid the steep surge in Covid-19 cases, the Government Medical Anantnag is facing shortage of oxygen, attendants at the hospital alleged Saturday.
Speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a group of attendants alleged that patients who need high flow oxygen are being kept on low flow oxygen as high flow oxygen supported beds are full there.
A video was also circulated on social media in which an elderly woman can be seen breathing heavily and his attendants demand high flow oxygen.
An attendant can be heard saying, “this is GMC Anantnag and you can see how patient is dying for want of oxygen”.
Talking to KNO, in-charge Medical superintendent GMC Dr Murtaza termed the allegations baseless and stated that attendants are creating unnecessary mess at the hospital.
He said that attendants are keeping three cylinders with them and don’t think about others.
Dr Murtaza said that bulk cylinders had exhausted at around 10 am (Saturday) but there was backup and upto 12 noon cylinders and all were arranged.
He said that there is adequate oxygen supply at the hospital and there is no need to panic.
Dr Murtaza said: “We have taken up issue with higher up to provide high level security cover at the hospital so that attendants are prevented from creating any mess.”—(KNO)
