North Kashmir’s Kupwara district was hottest among all in Kashmir division, where the maximum temperature settled at 35.1 degrees Celsius, he said, adding that Qazigund recorded 34.3 while Pahalgam, a famous tourist resort, recorded 30.2 degree Celsius.

Director MeT, Sonum Lotus said that the soaring temperature in the ongoing month was nothing new in Kashmir as it has touched even 35 degree Celsius in the recent years as well.

“There is no forecast of any further rise in maximum temperature in coming days while the prevalent heat wave will continue for a day or two more,” he added.

It is worth to mention here that the MeT has predicted three-day light wet spell from June 11 across the Valley, saying that there is a possibility of light rainfall from June 11, which will give respite from the soaring maximum temperature in Kashmir—(KNO)
