Bilal Ahmed Khan, 40, from Nussu area of Qazigund in district Anantnag, after completing his post-graduation, did not find any job, in 2007, and started a fish farm with the help of his family members.
Bilal rears range of fish at his farm which includes carp fish (common carp, grass carp and silver carp).
While speaking with the news agency— Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Bilal said, “there was a time when I was looking for the employment, but today after 13 years, I generate the employment for other. I have around 20 employees during the peak season in autumn.”
However, Bilal did not stop there, a few years later, when the idea of a fish farm worked, Bilal thought of opening an amusement centre for the children around the locality.
“We built a small pond by the side of the farm, we got pedal boats from Kolkatta and have been using this space for boating now,” he said.
“My family has been helping me throughout, we have been working very hard to give it our best and help children in finding some amusement. When we got the pedal boats from Kolkata, many children started coming for boating. The word spread to many nearby villages and today we have a good number of people visiting us,” he said.
He further said, though boating is available in Srinagar, but for children in South Kashmir, it gets difficult to travel.
“We want more people to come here. This is a spot worth seeing for people of all ages, we want people to come along their children for boating,” he said.
While appealing the Government, Bilal’s son said that he along with his father want to promote this place as a tourist destination, as the place is worth seeing and possess the great potential for tourism attraction—(KNO)
