Srinagar sizzles at 33.6 degrees; relief from tomorrow: MeT

‘Kashmir to witness light to moderate rains, Jammu heavy rainfall’

Srinagar, Jul 10: As the heat wave continues across Jammu and Kashmir with Srinagar sizzling at 33.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the weatherman has predicted relief from the scorching heat, stating that the light to moderate rains would likely occur in the Valley from tomorrow (July 11) while Jammu is set for heavy rains.

“The light to moderate rains would occur across Kashmir from July 11 to July 13,” Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT), Mukhtar Ahmad told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius, officials said, adding that Jammu, the winter capital of the Union Territory recorded maximum temperature of 31.2 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara in north Kashmir was hottest today where temperature settled at 34.6 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, MeT’s Deputy Director said that they are predicting a relief from the scorching heat from tomorrow as according to the forecast heavy rainfall would occur in Jammu while in Kashmir there is possibility of light to moderate rainfall.

He added that the wet spell would continue till July 13 (Tuesday)—(KNO)
