Irtiqa Bazaz: A ‘self-taught’ artist whose work features in top 100 in international competition

Srinagar, Dec 25: The work of a 20 year old ‘self-taught’ artist from Srinagar has been selected under 100 top artists in international art competition and exhibition.

Irtiqa Bazaz, a resident of Karan Nagar Srinagar has chosen art as his career and is pursuing Bachelor’s in visual arts at Institute of Music and Fine Arts in University of Kashmir.

Irtiqa while talking to a news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that she doesn’t remember when her passion for art began but she always loves her work.

“Art is my heart and soul and it depicts my pure emotions. I have never stopped creating art throughout my life,” she said.

“My parents have always supported me in this field and in order to follow my passion I have decided to make a career in this field and have taken admission in University of Kashmir where I am pursuing bachelor’s in music and fine arts,” Irtiqa said.

Irtiqa said that she has participated in many art events at college and University level and has won several national and international awards.

“I recently participated in an international art competition and exhibition where I was awarded a certificate of honour and my piece of work was selected among top 100 artists in a competition,” she said.

Irtiqa said that she is making art pieces on orders and so far have sold many art pieces—(KNO)
