Srinagar, May 02: Markets in Kashmir witnessed thin footfall of shopkeepers on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Though shops such as bakery shops, mutton and chicken outlets were abuzz with customers but traders say the rush cannot still be compared to what used to be witnessed before the pandemic brought gloom and doom across the globe.

A shopkeeper Junaid told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) “There is a rush of customers but it is not the same as it was before COVID-19. We have been in a state of lockdown for the past three years now.”

However, many shoppers were seen unhappy due to violation of government approved rates in markets. For instance, mutton was sold at 650 against the government fixed Rs 535 per kilogram.
