Pipe leakage submerges Qazigund tehsil office, people suffer

Anantnag, Dec 26: Tehsil office in Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district has submerged after water supply pipe got leaked, thereby making people suffer.

Residents of the area told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they are suffering as the entire tehsil building has got submerged.

They said that Qazigund was upgraded to territorial tehsil in 2014 but tehsil office is functioning out of an old building lacking space.

“People of the area are facing problems especially during erratic weather conditions. A water pipe got leaked today inside the building and water is everywhere due to which people are suffering”, they said.

The locals also said their is space crunch in the office, as it is from an old and dilapidate building.

They appealed to higher ups to look into the matter at an earliest and provide some separate building for it.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar Qazigund Khursheed Ahmad Tantray said all the important documents are safe and due to pipe leakage ground floor got submerged

He admitted that there was space crunch. “We are looking into the matter and we hope new building will be given for the Tehsil office soon,” he said—(KNO)
