Srinagar, Mar 21: Kashmiri fast bowler Samiullah Dar has been called by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the pre-IPL camp as a net bowler, days ahead of the cash-rich cricketing league Indian Premiere League (IPL) which will start on March 31.
The 25-year-old Dar, a Srinagar resident, who has been called to Kolkata, told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that he is all set and happy on joining the KKR camp for the upcoming IPL edition.
“I was noticed during a match in Delhi and was told to be in touch. After a few days, I got a call to join KKR pre-IPL camp as a net bowler,” Samiullah said.
He said that his family and friends are happy for him while he is aiming to perform better and seek more opportunities to express his cricketing talent on bigger platforms.
“It means a lot to me to be a part of the champion IPL team. Sharing the dressing room and atmosphere of the international cricket players will always be a learning experience for me,” Dar said. “My vision is clear; all I want to do is work hard and pursue my cricketing passion.”
Samiullah, however, said he is yet to represent Jammu & Kashmir in any bigger cricketing event other than his participation in the JKCA’s talent hunt tournament where he took 12 wickets in 4 matches.
“I have mostly played cricket in Delhi and participated in league tournaments there,” he said. “I will continue to work hard as the ambiance of the international standard league will help me in more improvisation in the game.”
Meanwhile, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gull in a tweet congratulated the Srinagar pacer for making it to the pre-IPL camp as a net bowler for KKR.
“Congratulations to fast bowler Samiullah Dar, a 25-year-old resident of Srinagar, who has Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pre-IPL camp as a net bowler at Kolkatta,” she wrote on Twitter—(KNO)
