Police arrest 9 ‘goons’ for harassing, assaulting a family in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 27: Taking swift action against ‘goons’ for resorting to hooliganism and assaulting a family in Parimpora area of Srinagar outskirts, police conducted midnight raids and arrested all the 9 ‘goons’.

A video is viral on social media which shows some Scooty riders trying to attack a family in a car. One of the assailants can be seen kicking the car while an unknown female member of the family inside the car can also be heard, seeking police help.

The video has been widely shared on social media platforms by netizens, demanding action against the culprits.

It was not immediately known what prompted the youth to attack the family. Reports said that these youth lost their cool after the man driving the car didn’t pave way for them on the busy Parimpora road.

Police said that they took cognizance of the video wherein a group of youth on bikes are seen harassing and attacking a family on road.

Police said that in this regard midnight raids were conducted by police teams led by SDPO West and SHO Parimpora. All 9 accused are arrested and 4 Scooties have been seized. Police added that an FIR has been registered against the accused at police station Parimpora.

Meanwhile, netizens have hailed the police for their prompt action against the goons. [KNT]
