Around 1 lakh tourists visit Pahalgam in last three months

Pahalgam, Apr 13: Around one lakh tourists visited Pahalgam in the first three months of the ongoing year even as the number of tourists visiting Pahalgam is increasing with each passing day.

As per the figures available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), 24,182 tourists visited Pahalgam in the month of January followed by 29,562 in February and 44,187 in the month of March.

Due to the uptick in tourist footfall, tourism players in Pahalgam are feeling jubilant as the number of tourists visiting the tourist destination is witnessing an uptick this season again.

Shopkeepers, pony walas and others said they earn that their livelihood and income is proportional to the rush of visitors and this year footfall is very good.

Zakir Ahmad, a hotelier told KNO that the season is going quite well this time and the hotel occupancy is increasing with each passing day.

He said that currently the rush of non-local tourists is more, however, after Eid the number of local tourists will be more.

An official of the tourism department told KNO that tourism season is in full bloom in Pahalgam and thousands of tourists are visiting on a daily basis.

He said that with each passing day, the number of tourists visiting Pahalgam is increasing and it will increase further in coming weeks.

He said that thousands of tourists stay for night at Pahalgam and after Eid the number of local tourists visiting Pahalgam will increase manifold—(KNO)
