Addressing a function in Srinagar, the LG said that people have mobile phones in their hands and don’t hesitate to pay money to get 5-G data. “I wonder what stops people from paying money for the use of electricity,” the LG said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said that smart meters will be installed everywhere in the UT and the people will get uninterrupted power round the clock.

“I assure the people that they will get quality power at cheaper rate. I also assure them that smarter meter power usage bills will be much less than what people were getting when old meters were installed,” he said.

The LG said that the J&K administration has testing equipment too to check the actual power usage by the consumers. He said that in the next three years, more power will be generated. “In next three years, what was generated in last 70 years, more than that will be generated,” he said, adding that transmission and distribution has been streamlined. “Consumers will get 24×7 power supply and supply will only get interrupted whenever there is any technical snag or any repair,” the LG said—(KNO)
