Qazigund, Oct 9: The South Kashmir Inter-College Kabaddi Tournament, organized by GDC Qazigund, commenced today with an exciting inaugural ceremony.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Gh. Hassan Thakur, Principal of GDC Dooru, while Prof. G.R Verma, Principal of the host college, was the Guest of Honor. The ceremony began with Principal Prof. G.R Verma warmly welcoming the Chief Guest with a bouquet.
Prof. Showkat Ahmad Malik, in his role as the host, extended a warm welcome to the guests, dignitaries, participants, and students, setting the stage for an eventful day of sportsmanship.
Principal Prof. G.R Verma, in his introductory remarks, emphasized the importance of games and sports in leading a healthy life and wished the participants success in their endeavors.
The inaugural match of the tournament featured a nail-biting clash between GDC Kulgam and GDC Bijbehara. In a fiercely contested battle, GDC Kulgam emerged victorious, with Rakeeb Ahmad Wani of GDC Kulgam earning the title of Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
The second match of the day saw the host college, GDC Qazigund, facing off against GDC Utersoo. GDC Qazigund triumphed with an impressive margin, and Faizan Ahmad Bhat from GDC Qazigund was honored as the Player of the Match for his remarkable display on the Kabaddi mat.
The tournament maintained the highest standards of fairness and sportsmanship, with Mr. Sameer Ahmad Naik, Mr. Aamir Yaqoob, and Mr. Javid Ahmad Pala officiating as match referees on behalf of the Youth Services and Sports Department in Kulgam.
