Budgam, Oct 11: The annual ritual of Poshak Bandi, which is changing the cloth draped over the holy grave of Hazrat Sheikh Noorudin Noorani (RA) was held at Charari Sharief on Wednesday.

Talking to the media persons on the occasion, Jammu and Kashmir waqf Board member Peer Mohammad Hussain Haqani as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the Poshak Bandi is done ahead of the annual Urs of Kashmir’s revered Sufi saint Hazrat Sheikh Noorudin Noorani popularly known as Sheikh-ul-Aalam (RA).

“Annual Urs of sheikh Noor-ud-din Wali also known as Alamdar-e-Kashmir will be observed at Central Kashmir’s Charar-e-sharief on 13 October. Thousands of devotees from different areas of Valley have participated in the holy event of cloth Changing (PoshakBandi). Also, special prayers were held at the shrine throughout the day,” he said.

He said the development works have been carried out at the shrine and the grievances of devotees have been addressed.

The Poshak Bandi was done by the caretakers of shrine in presence of waqf Board member Peer Mohammad Hussain Haqani, Karwani Islami Chief Moulana Gulam Rasool Hami, Tehsildar Waqaf, Mutawali Ziyarat Younis Haji.

The ritual held with religious fervour witnessed a huge rush of devotees and special Friday prayers were held at Charar-i-Sharief on the Urs day.

The government on Tuesday said that the provincial holiday on account of annual Urs will be observed on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Waqf Board announced the schedule of prayers and activities. Isha prayer will be offered at 8:30 PM followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran, Naat and Manqibat Khawani as well as the Sheikh Ul-Alam (Shaykh Shruk) during the night long Shab on Thursday.

The Urs will be observed on Friday and Khatamat-ul-Maazamat will be performed in Astan Aliya during the day.
