Kupwara, Nov 8: In a concerted effort to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, a seminar on drug awareness and a rally were organized in the Lalpora area of Kupwara. The event witnessed a significant turnout with enthusiastic participation from students, traders, senior citizens, and community members.
The seminar, held at the Lalpora Police Station, aimed to raise awareness about the devastating effects of drug addiction and to educate the community on preventive measures. Of particular significance, the Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Lalpora, Naseer Malik, graced the event with his presence. His support underscored the significance of the occasion, and he spoke passionately about the collective responsibility in eradicating drug-related issues from the region.
The attendees were enlightened on recognizing early signs of addiction and understanding the resources available for help. Following the informative seminar, a spirited rally was conducted from the police station in Lalpora to the bustling Main Market area.
A respected senior citizen of Lalpora, emphasized the need for such events. He stated, “Our community is at risk, and it’s our collective responsibility to protect our youth from the clutches of drug addiction. Today’s seminar and rally are crucial steps in that direction.”
The local police department, who played an integral role in organizing the event, praised the community’s proactive involvement.
