Srinagar, Nov 23: Kabra Altaf, Kashmir’s highly accomplished judoka, secured a bronze medal in the senior category of the 3rd Khelo India North India Women’s Judo League Ranking Tournament.
The event, held for the first time in Kashmir at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex, witnessed participation from judo players across North India.
Kabra, who boasts seven national medals in judo, exhibited her skills in the below 78 kg cadre, earning accolades for Jammu and Kashmir. Winning the bronze medal in her hometown added to the significance of the achievement.
Speaking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Kabra Altaf, said, “It is a great feeling to win this medal, especially in my hometown during an event which was held for the first time in Kashmir.”
She underscored the importance of constant hard work and commitment. “Not every time you win a medal. Hard work is constant. As a judoka, I have learned to be content with the results. I will keep working hard and hope for better results in the upcoming events,” she added.
Kabra received the prestigious State Award in 2021 in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the sport of judo. The 3rd Khelo India North India Women’s Judo League was organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in collaboration with the Judo Federation of India (JFI) and the J&K Judo Association—(KNO)
