Pahalgam, Jan 7: In a unique cultural initiative, the staff at Hotel Sparrow, nestled in the picturesque Nagipora Kullar area of Pahalgam, have taken to adorning the traditional Kashmiri pheran. This loose-and-long woollen gown, renowned for its ability to ward off the harsh winter cold, has become a symbol of the hotel’s commitment to promoting the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir.
The decision to incorporate the pheran into the staff’s uniform was driven by a desire to celebrate and preserve the cultural essence of the Valley. One of the staff members shared, “Instead of opting for modern attire, we have chosen to embrace the pheran, not only as a means to combat the cold but also as a tribute to our cultural roots.”
The distinctive pheran, known for its intricate embroidery and vibrant colors, holds significant cultural value in Kashmir. By incorporating it into the hotel’s dress code, the staff aims to create a unique atmosphere that resonates with the cultural traditions of the region.
Hotel Sparrow, known for its commitment to providing guests with an authentic Kashmiri experience, hopes that this initiative will not only showcase the beauty of the traditional attire but also encourage visitors to explore and appreciate the rich cultural tapestry of the Kashmir Valley.
