Parliamentary Polls: Will field candidates from all 5 constituencies of JK, says Altaf Bukhari

Srinagar, Jan 17: Apni Party on Wednesday said it will field candidates from all five constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir for upcoming Parliamentary election. It said that decision in this regard will be taken in first week of February.

Pertinently Parliamentary elections will likely to take place in April – May this year. All regional and nationalist political parties have geared up its public reach out program to sweep the polls.

Kashmir News Service has learnt from reliable party sources that Apni Party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) headed by former minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir will hold a crucial meeting in the first week of February this year. The meeting will be attended by senior party leaders who will take a final call on the list of candidates who the party will field in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The party has decided to field candidates from all five constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir whose names will be made public once the meeting is held in February 2024.

When contacted party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, he confirmed the development to KNS. “Yes the PAC will sit and discuss every angle of the situation. The names of the candidates from all five constituencies will be announced in the meeting,” Bukhari told KNS.

Bukhari said being a new political outfit in the region, Apni Party will try its best to represent people’s aspirations, and will think over coalition after results, if required. “We are a new political party. We will try to contest polls on our own. If need will arise for coalition, that will be considered afterwards as per the demand of the situation. It is our belief that no J&K government alone can lead the region to development without taking central government on board. Whosoever government will come in centre, we will try to ensure good relations with them for the betterment and welfare of Jammu and Kashmir,” Bukhari said.

He also said that aim of fielding candidates from all five constituencies is to take party’s flag and manifesto to every house of Jammu and Kashmir. He also said that Apni Party is active in every district of Jammu and Kashmir and asserted the party will come up a victorious in elections. (KNS)
