Farewell Function Organized in Honour of Prof. G.R. Verma on Being Appointed as Controller of Examinations, JK BOPEE

Qazigund, June 15: Government Degree College Qazigund hosted a heartfelt farewell function in honor of the esteemed Principal, Prof. G.R. Verma, to bid adieu to the highly respected leader. The program began with a warm welcome and introductory address by Prof. Nehad Kaniz Fatima (HoD English). This was followed by a series of tributes from the staff, who expressed their appreciation and admiration for Prof. Verma. As a token of their gratitude, they presented him with a shawl and a memento. The guest of honor, Shrimati Sonu Puri, was also acknowledged with a shawl, recognizing her presence and contribution to the event. The celebration continued as both teaching and non-teaching staff presented Principal Verma with further tokens of appreciation, highlighting the deep respect and affection they hold for him.

Following the welcome and presentation of tokens, the program featured speeches from faculty members. Prof. Aufaq Ahmad Zargar (HoD Computer Science) delivered an eloquent speech praising Prof. Verma’s immense contributions to the college. He highlighted his vision, dedication, and the positive changes he brought to the institution.

Next, Prof. Showkat Ahmad Malik (HoD Education) honored Prof. Verma with a speech that focused on his exceptional leadership qualities. Prof. Showkat expressed his gratitude to him for his hard work and dedication. He emphasized that Prof. Verma would undoubtedly bring laurels to his new position as Controller of Examinations at JK BOPEE. Prof. Nehad then took the stage again to speak about Prof. Verma’s commendable work ethic, humility, and tireless hard work. She also shared how his supportive nature made newcomers like herself feel welcome and comfortable in a new work environment, portraying him as a guiding light for all. She emphasized how his guidance and wisdom had significantly impacted both the staff and students.

Later, Prof. Verma addressed the gathering, sharing detailed insights about the college and its infrastructure. He reflected on his journey over the past year, highlighting the progress made and the challenges overcome. He also emphasized the importance of active student participation in making the college more vibrant and a desirable place for everyone to study. He wished the college and the students a very bright future.

Towards the end of the program, Prof. Verma engaged in an interactive session with the students. The students expressed their gratitude warmly and sincerely, thanking him for his unwavering support and leadership. During this session, he took the opportunity to ask the students for their feedback on improving their college experience. The students responded enthusiastically, offering various suggestions and ideas, which he received with great interest and appreciation.

The farewell party was a fitting tribute to Prof. G.R. Verma’s impactful tenure at GDC Qazigund, celebrating his dedication and leadership. The faculty, staff, and students wished him the best in all his future endeavors at JK BOPEE and were grateful for the time he spent amongst them. A vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Rameez (HoD Environmental Science), who also spoke about Prof. Verma’s valuable contributions to the College.
