Kulgam, Dec 3: Fifteen villages in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district have been grappling with a severe power shortage for the last two weeks.

The residents of Redwai Bala, Hawoorah, Mishipora, Vidowpora, Kaladrang, Kujjar Tengbal, Batapora, Gundbal, Nowbal, NPKP, Oudipora, Wanpora, and surrounding areas are facing immense hardship due to the prolonged power outage.
The villagers told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the power shortage has disrupted daily life, leaving vulnerable groups such as senior citizens, patients, and children severely affected.
“Elderly individuals and patients relying on medical equipment are facing life-threatening difficulties, while children are struggling to study due to the lack of proper lighting,” they added.
The villagers said that they had written to the District Magistrate urging him to address the issue without any delay.
“We are urging the District Development Commissioner to intervene immediately, requesting a thorough investigation into the cause of the power outage. We also demand prompt restoration of a stable power supply,” they said. [KNT]
