Three Karate champs from Anantnag, Shine at International Championship

Anantnag, Feb 06: Three young karate athletes from South Kashmir made their mark at the Shotokan International Karate Championship 2025 in Amritsar, Punjab, where participants from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka competed.

Zaid Gulzar, Ayesha Aejaz, and Mohammad Mukaram represented Kashmir at the event. Zaid and Ayesha secured gold medals, while Mohammad won bronze.

Talking to news agency JKNS Zaid Gulzar said, “I give full credit to my parents and coach Aamir Gulzar for providing me with the platform to achieve my dreams.”

Another player Ayesha Aejaz told JKNS that, “I urge young people to take part in such sports events and stay away from social evils like drug addiction.”

Coach Aamir Gulzar expressed his pride, saying, “This is not only a moment of honor for the athletes’ families but for Anantnag and the entire Jammu and Kashmir.”

Zonal Physical Education Officer Dooru, Bashir Ahmad, lauded the achievements of the athletes, Bashir Ahmad told JKNS that, “This is a moment of pride for Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. We must encourage youth to participate in sports to combat drug addiction.”(JKNS)
