Gurez, Mar 4: A flash flood incident on Naraub Nala in Baraub village, Tehsil Tulail was timely prevented by quick response from the Indian Army stationed there.
On the intervening night of 3/4 March, at approximately 1230 AM, panic stricken villagers of Baraub village raised an alarm approaching the Indian Army for help, as due to heavy snowfall, a sudden surge in water levels in Naraub Nala was seen.
Army persons immediately rushed in with snow clearance equipment to the site and helped evacuation of nearby houses to safe areas. The imminent danger of the Nala re-orienting it’s own course due to blockage of its riverbed by heavy snow accumulation was further mitigated the following morning, when Indian Army soldiers along with a Dozer cleared the path by channelizing the flooded areas back to the river.
The locals breathed a sigh of relief as the likely flooding situation was brought under control and thanked the Indian Army personnel for their quick response in mitigating the threat.
