MeT issues ‘yellow alert’ for Thursday

Srinagar, Mar 12: Amid the forecast of a week-long wet spell, the Meteorological Department here has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for Thursday, predicting intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and snow at many places.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the intermittent rainfall was recorded in the last three days from March 10 while the prevailing weather conditions are expected to continue till March 16.

The MeT has issued ‘yellow alert’ for many stations for tomorrow, expecting intermittent light to moderate rain and snow at many places.

Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches at many places are expected to continue till March 15.

He added that intermittent light rain and snow is expected on March 16 at few places towards morning & improvement towards afternoon.

He further said that the weather would remain generally dry from March 17 to 21st.

In its advisory, the MeT has said that the travelers, tourists and transporters are advised to follow administration and traffic advisory while farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations till 16th March. “Avoid sloppy & avalanche prone areas. Landslides, Mudslides and shooting stones are expected at vulnerable spots,” the advisory reads—(KNO)
