Dhul Hijjah Crescent Not Sighted in J&K, Eid-ul-Adha on June 7: Grand Mufti J&K

Srinagar, May 27: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, on Tuesday evening announced that the crescent marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah was not sighted anywhere in the Union Territory.

Speaking to media persons in Srinagar Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam as per news agency JKNS said, “No credible testimony regarding the moon sighting was received from any part of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mufti Nasir said that the first day of Dhul Hijjah will fall on Thursday, May 29, and Eid-ul-Adha will be observed June 7.

The announcement came after a series of consultations with local religious committees and moon sighting observers across various districts. (JKNS)
