Kulgam, June 27, 2025: A special awareness session on the three newly enacted criminal laws was held today at Government Degree College (GDC) Frisal. The session aimed at educating students and staff about the key changes and implications of the new legal framework.
The event featured Javid Iqbal, Tehsildar Frisal, as the Resource Person, who delivered an insightful lecture on the salient features of the new laws — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which replace the IPC, CrPC, and Evidence Act respectively. He emphasized the progressive reforms and citizen-centric provisions embedded in the updated legal codes.
Another Resource person Professor Shokit Ahmed Malik, In-charge Principal of GDC Frisal, presided over the event. In his address, he appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of legal literacy among the youth in a democratic society.
The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students engaged actively with the resource person, gaining deeper insights into the implications of the new criminal justice system.
