Anantnag, Jan 10: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Aaqib Wani on Saturday accused the National Conference (NC) of failing to fulfil the promises made to the people during the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that the party had betrayed public trust.
Addressing media persons in Anantnag, Wani said NC had made tall claims in its election manifesto but failed to deliver on the ground. “People were promised development, employment and better basic facilities, but even after coming to power, NC has failed to live up to its commitments,” he alleged.
The BJP leader also slammed the government over the recent hike in electricity tariffs, terming it unjustified and anti-people. He said the power hike has put an additional financial burden on common citizens, especially those from economically weaker sections.
Wani alleged that residents are already grappling with different issues, and the increase in electricity charges has further aggravated their problems. “Instead of providing relief to the people, the government is making their lives more difficult through such decisions,” he said.
He urged the government to roll back the electricity hike and focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Wani said the BJP will continue to raise issues concerning public welfare and hold the government accountable for its failures.
