Srinagar–Jammu highway remains open: LMVs move both ways, HMVs permitted from Udhampur to Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 10, KNT: The Srinagar–Jammu National Highway remained open for traffic on Tuesday despite intermittent rain and snowfall reported in parts of Kashmir and the Chenab Valley, officials said.

Traffic authorities said light motor vehicles were allowed to ply from both directions on the highway, while heavy motor vehicles were permitted to move from Udhampur towards Srinagar in a regulated manner.

Officials said weather conditions along the highway corridor remained stable, with cloudy skies prevailing but no fresh rainfall or snowfall reported. Road conditions were described as satisfactory, allowing smooth movement of vehicles.

Authorities said traffic was being monitored closely to ensure uninterrupted flow and advised commuters to follow official traffic advisories while travelling on the highway.

The Srinagar–Jammu highway is the only all-weather surface link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country and remains vulnerable to weather-related disruptions during winter months. [KNT]
