Five-Day Cyber Investigation Training Concludes, Over 200 Officers From Central Kashmir Range Attend Programme

Srinagar, Feb 13: The Range Police Headquarters Srinagar on Friday concluded a five-day specialised training programme on cyber security and modern investigation techniques under the supervision of DIG Central Kashmir Range Rajiv Omprakash Pandey.

The programme, which commenced on February 9 at the Jammu and Kashmir Police Public School Srinagar, brought together more than 200 police personnel from across the Central Kashmir Range, with a focus on Investigating Officers posted in Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts.The training was imparted by a professional team associated with ‘ Guide the Professional’–a training agency of high repute..

Officials said the initiative was aimed at strengthening the professional capabilities of officers in tackling emerging cyber threats and handling technology-driven crimes. The sessions covered digital evidence preservation, cyber forensic procedures, online fraud detection, social media analysis and data privacy issues.

Resource persons and subject experts delivered detailed lectures on financial frauds, identity theft, hacking incidents and digital financial crimes, while also underlining the importance of inter-agency coordination and preventive policing strategies.

Participants were engaged in scenario-based exercises designed to enhance investigative efficiency and practical understanding of handling electronic devices and analysing digital trails. Officers were also familiarised with updated legal provisions relevant to cybercrime.

Senior officers of the Central Kashmir Range stressed the need for continuous capacity building in view of the growing complexity of cyber offences. They said specialised training remains crucial to improving investigative standards and ensuring effective response to technologically advanced criminal activities.

At the concluding session, senior officers including Staff Officer to DIG CKR Peer Zahoor, ADO RPHQ Srinagar Mohd Shafi Khan and PS to DIG CKR Showkat Ahmad thanked ‘ Guide the professionals’ headed by Saba Bhat, Management and staff of Police Public School, and participants.[KNT]
