Jammu, Apr 07: As Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested five persons, including a Pakistani terrorist wanted for over 16 years, after dismantling an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module with inter-state links, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said the operation was a positive step but raised concerns over continuous terrorist infiltration into the region.

While talking to the reporters here CM Omar, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “It is good that it (terror module) was busted, but alongside that, the question arises — where did they come from and why did they come?”

He said repeated claims that terrorism has ended do not align with ground realities, as modules continue to surface.

“We are told that terrorism is over and there is no trace of it left, yet such modules keep getting busted and terrorists coming from across the border are found,” he said.

The Chief Minister also dismissed remarks made by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, terming them unrealistic.

Referring to past incidents, CM Omar said attempts to carry out major attacks had not succeeded. “They could barely reach Jammu and did not cause any significant damage. They could not even reach the country’s capital. The dream of reaching Kolkata should be forgotten,” he said.

He added that instead of issuing threats, efforts should be made to improve bilateral relations. “It would be better if they focus on improving relations rather than worsening them further,” the Chief Minister said, while stressing the need for continued vigilance against terrorist activities—(KNO)
