Kulgam, Apr 8: Government Degree College (GDC) Frisal celebrated World Health Day under the theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science,” aiming to promote scientific approaches in healthcare and overall well-being among students and staff.
A team of medical professionals, including Dr. Rashid Gull (Medical Officer, PHC Frisal), Dr. Waseem Akram (MLHP, HWC Tulkan), Dr. Iqbal (MLHP), Nyla Nazir (MLHP) and Waseem Farooq (Health Educator), participated in the programme.

The event was held in two sessions—an awareness session and a medical screening camp. Principal Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Butt, in his address, highlighted the importance of the theme and stressed the role of science in building a healthier society.
Dr. Rashid Gull spoke on key health issues, emphasizing preventive healthcare and timely medical intervention, while Dr. Waseem Akram underlined the need for community-level awareness.

The session was anchored by Dr. Mehraj Ahmad Sheikh, Assistant Professor Commerce, and the vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Showkat Ahmad Malik.
In the second session, free medical screening and health check-ups were conducted for students and staff, including haemoglobin and blood sugar tests.
The programme was organised by Dr. Zahid Hussain, Convener Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with NSS and IQAC units under the supervision of the Principal. NSS volunteers assisted in managing the event.
The initiative was widely appreciated and concluded with active participation from students, faculty and non-teaching staff.
