“We sing Kashmiri and Urdu songs. People are appreciating it,” they said.

The 19-year-old, Abiroo said that she has many times participated in competitions and won awards even for Naats at various platforms before.

“I always wanted to be a professional singer. And my family has always supported me to chase my dreams,” she said.

However, the financial condition at home has “made it difficult” for her to cruise through her chosen career, but Abiroo said that she has not given up on it yet.

“Despite all the hurdles in-between,” the duo said, “We are grabbing every opportunity in terms of music festivals and talent shows across Kashmir or beyond,” which they say, “helps us move near to our goal”.

Like Abiroo her duet partner Azrah Qayoom,19, has made a similar effort to furnish her goal in singing. She has always stood for her friend and partner even when her family financial conditions too were not good.

The duo said that they are self-learned, without any professional guidance.

“We would individually sing and take part in competitions in schools and its only since 2020 that we partnered for competitions together. This year we have been called for performances in festivals,” Azrah said.

“The duet partnership seems to be a hit among the audiences who have appreciated our performances every time we sing together in a very short span of time,” Azrah said.

The duo recently have also won a talent hunt show for their duet performance—(KNO)
