Srinagar, Mar 7: Castigating Government for disengaging them en-masse after the abrogation of Article 370, 10+2 contractual lecturers Saturday staged a protest in Srinagar demanding continuation of service and comprehensive job policy for them.

These lecturers assembled here in Press Enclave Srinagar to seek justice. They staged protest against the government’s alleged “use and throw” policy.

“There were 1700 contractual lecturers prior August 2019. In Kashmir Division there were 900 and 800 from Jammu. All were disengaged without issuing any formal order,” the protesting lecturers told KNT.

They said government has done injustice towards them. “We are suffering badly and all our pleas and requests are being ignored.”

“We have rendered our prime age in serving the Education Department. We have grown old, and lack the energy to follow dictatorial commands anymore,” they said.

They said the government discontinued their services in 2019 and has not released their salaries till date thus impacting their social life. They further alleged that government “exploits the educated youth of Kashmir through ‘use and throw’ policy.”

They appealed the Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and other higher-ups of Education department to resolve their issues without making them to suffer anymore. (KNT)
