Meet Parvaiz Nawpori: A mother’s grief turns Kulgam youth into a singer

Anantnag, Mar 26: A youth from South Kashmir is winning hearts with his voice by singing songs in Urdu and Kashmiri which he writes and composes himself.

Parvaiz Ahmad Nawpori,33, a resident of Nawpora village in Kulgam district who is a businessman by the profession is pursuing his singing career part-time and own a band by the name of Parvaiz Nawpori Production.

Parvaiz while talking with—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that it was 4th day after the death of his mother that he wrote his first song.

He later sang the song which was written in memory of her late mother titled “Moji” and went viral on YouTube and other social media platforms.

“After that I started writing, singing and composing songs in Urdu and Kashmiri myself and have sung dozens of songs,” he said. “I have written hundreds of songs so far.”

Parvaiz who is the father of two said that he has created a studio at his home where he along with experienced musicians are training around two dozen youth with classical, folk and rap songs besides comedy.

He said that it was all emotions and love for his mother, who died some four years ago, that attached him to this field.

“Most of my songs is dedicated to my mother,” he said. “I want to continue this band and engage more and more youth with it so that they can learn music and keep them away from drugs.”—(KNO)
