Srinagar, Mar 30: The Asia’s biggest Tulip garden located in the foothills of Zabarwan mountain range overlooking famous Dal Lake in Srinagar has enthralled a recorded number of almost 50,000 visitors in just five days, officials revealed Tuesday.

The sprawling garden having 15 lakh varieties of Tulips, spread over 35 acres of land, was officially thrown open on March 25 by LG’s advisor Baseer Ahmed Khan. The garden witnessed arrival of 4500 visitors’ tourists on day-one.

An official from the Floriculture Department while speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said on the first day of opening of the Tulip nursery, around 4,500 guests visited the garden.

“In the past five days, almost 48,000 visitors including domestic and foreign tourists visited the garden. The full Tulip bloom is yet to happen and in the coming few days, the garden will present a breathtaking view,” said the official, wishing not to be named.

He further said, the Tulip Nursery is attracting both locals as well as the tourists from different parts of the country.

Interestingly, after the Directorate of Tourism Kashmir, exhibited the Tourist destinations of Kashmir in different parts of the Country in various special Promotional Projects and early snowfall at world renowned Ski destination Gulmarg, acted as a major attraction for the tourists forcing them to visit Kashmir.

An official in the Tourism Department said in collaboration with the Floriculture Department, they are going to organize a multi-day Tulip Celebration Festival in the first seven day stretch of April. “By then, the Tulips will be in almost full bloom that will attract more tourists,” he said.

Amid tough winters of 2020-21, Floriculture Department had planted around 15 Lakh Tulip Bulbs with 62 assortments this year. The nursery has nearly sprouted with around 50-60 per cent Tulips and in coming days the nursery will be at the pinnacle of blossom, the official said—(KNO)
