Srinagar, June 1: The University of Kashmir has increased the examination fees amid the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, alleged the students.

Students alleged that instead of considering a reduction in the examination fee for the current semesters, the University has started charging Rs 650 extra.

The last date for submission of examination fee for all PG courses is June 15 while students have been directed to pay Rs 2,000 instead of Rs 1350.

“It is disgusting to see the attitude and behaviour of Kashmir University Management which misses no opportunity to exploit the poor students,” a student from Bio-Chemistry Department told news agency Kashmir News Trust.

Another student said that last year during the time of lockdown Kashmir University had given relaxation and had reduced the examination fee but this time instead of reduction, it has increased the examination fee.

Students demanded that examination fee should be reduced in their interest, keeping the prevailing situation in mind.

Registrar Kashmir University, denied any hike in the fee examination or otherwise during the current lockdown period as claimed by the students.

“I don’t think, there is any hike in the examination fee, still I will look into it,” Registrar Kashmir University Nisar Ahmed Mir told KNT.
