According to a 27 June advisory from the regional government, petroleum agencies have been asked 'to ensure sufficient stocks of LPG in the valley as their supply gets affected due to closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway on account of frequent landslides'. In another order, Indian Police requested the regional administration to make available 16 educational institutes in the central Kashmir district for the accommodation facilities of the Indian troops and paramilitary forces. The two back-to-back orders have come amid the Sino-India faceoff along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. Poonch, Sept 4: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch on Sunday appointed Deputy CEO as inquiry officer into an incident involving carrying of a domestic LPG cylinder by some students to their school located on a hilltop in this district.

The action comes a day after video clip of the incident went viral on social media, mainly after GNS reported it.

“In view of the video clip gone viral on social media where in the students of MS Upper Bhatidhar Zone Mendhar were found dragging the Gas cylinder towards their school during working hours…. the Dy.CEO Mendhar shall conduct (an) in-depth enquiry into the matter and submit his report to proceed further into the matter” reads an order by CEO. The order, a copy of which lies with GNS, also noted that this activity shows “carelessness and dereliction of duties” by the staff of the school.

“In view of the above and pending enquiry into the matter, the salary of all the Staff members of MS Upper Bhatidhar Zone Mendhar shall be kept withheld till the outcome of the enquiry,” he said.
