Drowning causes two death in Kashmir

Kupwara July 23: A boy drowned in a stream here in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district while taking a bath along with his friends.

The incident occurred in Manzgam Taharatpora of the district and the boy was bathing in Kahmil Nallah.

Locals told news agency KNT that the boy after taking a dip didn’t surface. People retrieved him and took hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The intake of excessive water has caused the death of the boy, said a medico who identified the deceased as 12 year old Umar Farooq Var, a resident of Manzgam.

Station House Officer Police Sation Vilgam said that proceedings under CrPc 174 have been initiated.

Meanwhile, a 13 year old girl from Rajouri also died due to drowning in Shopian district of Kashmir.

Police sources said that a Gujjar girl identified as Shahnaza daughter of Muhammad Sadiq Bajjad of Kubakot Rajouri drowned in Tongri Nalla at Matujjan Shopian. Her body was retrieved with the efforts of locals and police. (KNT)
